my ma once said
one will walk into my life,
and
leave a footprint in my heart
muddled and grubby
yet tender and honest
dare i confess,
it was you?
but
you left me
drowning in a well of pain
the kiss in your eyes
haunts me night and day
dare i say...
...if equal affection cannot be
let me be the more loving one
let me be the river stone
in your firth mouth
and maybe
i can go about my half-torn life?
Poem inspired by Seven Stones by Marjorie Agosín and Footprint on Your Heart by Gary Lenhart.
