Subject: it is but 5 letters put together.....

Updated: Dec 19, 2021

Hey there!

Firstly, I hope you beautiful people are well and slaying today as always!!!!!!

aaannnddd let the school begin (JK*).........

There are a few elements that hold this world together. Trust is one of the basic, but the very essence of our society; much like a cornerstone when building a house.

According to the Cambridge dictionary, trust means to believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you or that something is safe and reliable.

Now before I explain my version, LET ME WARN YOU - this post will make me sound like the world's most miserable person. But, I beg to disagree (as graceful as ever... does a little twirl). However, I would be lying if I explained it any other way.

If you ask me what trust is, I would say it is merely five alphabets put together. Why do I think that? maybe because these letters spoke to each other while no one else could (yea...sounds cliche...eye roll....)? or maybe just because...

I wrote a poem about trust for the first time when I was in school. (Fun fact: It did not go well - let us say questions were raised). When I look back now, I think I still feel the same for the most part. In fact, today, I possibly question it even more.

Trust often comes from something very different. It's mostly about symbols, expectations, and mystery.

Consider your relationship with the nurse, who will be performing your surgery. You place your life in their hands; you let them cut you open...all on one doctor's opinion or recommendation; no prior interviews or evaluations.

We do something similar with all the food we eat, something similar to every relationship we have on this earth. We choose to place our trust in someone, or somewhere and once it is broken, almost nothing will bring it back.

I am refraining from sharing any personal experiences at this point. However, trust is much like 'placing your heart on your sleeve.' We grab on to it when our soul needs it, and once broken, rebuilding it is a whole separate chapter that one would need to write. It is much like a new novel....you start from the beginning; a process of healing, rediscovering, loving, and trusting yet again (hoping just this once, it works out).

It is said that we tend to trust people who are like us. Just how we choose to attract people with who we can vibe, who we can be ourselves with. We tend to trust people who would  at least we think would) go above and beyond to be there for us.

So what would trust really mean? It is something simple but yet so powerful. It is the action that people around us would take no matter what. Someone who is there for us - in sickness and in health - (that phrase isn't limited to a married couple but to every relationship, you intend to keep till the day you bid goodbye to this world.)

It is people who show up even if they don't have to. It is the one who lends us their shoulder to lean on without expecting anything in return.

Alas, today, it tends to be a promise never kept, a mere five letters put together for the beauty of it. Something, unfortunately, I no longer trust.

I think we can wrap it up here for now ;)

Much love and some warm cozy hugs,

V

P.s. JK literally translates to joking :)
